Mott hopeful of Stokes overturning  ODI retirement

England's Head Coach Matthew Mott is hopeful of Ben Stokes reversing his ODI retirement in order to play the 2023 World Cup in England. Seeing the way ben stokes batted in the t20world cup 2022 final and in the last match against the Lankans, the coach may insist he to get out of ODI retirement

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has not given up hope on the all-rounder and have asked him to reconsider his decision to retire from ODIs.

"I'm hopeful that he will change his mind," said Mott, who was appointed coach last month. "We would love him to be available for the World Cup."

Mott also said that he would speak to Stokes about a possible return for the World Cup but did not want to put pressure on him.

With the World Cup less than 12 months away, England are not scheduled to play a lot of T20Is over the next few months - a factor that Mott hopes can persuade Stokes to return to the ODI fold. "That's his decision," he noted. "It's going to be a World Cup year and we don't play much T20 cricket for a while, but it will be up to him. The more we can get him is great. He's doing an amazing job with the Test captaincy but he is a very big cog in the wheel when he comes back to white-ball."

Rob Key the managing director of England cricket said "Nothing is forever, but who knows what will happen," he told Sky Sports. "At the moment, we'll just keep thinking about trying to enjoy what we've done now and then we'll be thinking about Test cricket. What will be, will be. I don't think you ever rule anything out but at the moment, we'll just try and enjoy what we've done so far and Ben can enjoy it. I'm sure he's enjoying it as much as he possibly can."

Michael Vaughan the former England captain had also twitted regarding overturning his (ben stokes ) ODI retirement decision in order to play the 2023 World Cup in England.

If ben stokes reverse his decision and play again the ODI cricket then it will certainly bring the experience and boost the team going for the ODI world cup to be played next year. All the England fan will be hoping for the same from ben stokes after an excellent performance by their stalwart in the final.
